Problem statement

The northern university of Sri Lanka is located in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It is a huge education provider in that country. Despite the fact, that at present, the university has 15,000 huge amount of student in this academic year, even then the university lacks in many of the student facilities. The university does not focus on one field. At the moment university has 15,000 Student in this academic year. University is divided as so many faculties like Art, Management, Medicine, and Engineering. Also they have a small student information system with student access only. But this system is intranet and can access within the university environment only. Now they have their student's details in university local server.

University does not have any lectures interface. In the current situation administrative people can only upload student resources via this system. But they do not have any access to do anything rather than upload. University needs a proper system which everyone involving with academic purpose should access this system. Over the years the students issues have augmented. In the university the implementation of a new system is very much essential. The challenge for management here is to accept the issues and challenges faced by the university student and allocate a proper budget for resolving the matter. It is very much essential for the university to solve issues of the students in a well-structured manner. It is now that they want to make this system as online application. Then only, student and lectures can access this system from anywhere in the world through the internet.

Lectures do not have any access to this system. It is due to this issue that there is no any contact between students and the lectures. So students cannot get any feedback from the lecturers. So university want to lecturers interface and they want lectures to upload their subjects to students. Also administrative people have to do some more activities like, announcement for lectures, lectures survey, contact with students through this system than the existing features. Therefore these entire problem leads the university to implement a new student information system call “NUSIS” (Northern University Student Information System) Plus.
