U.S Foreign Policy and Israel/Palestine Conflict



Abstract

The Israel/Palestine clash remains the fundamental security concern worldwide and for the different administrations of US, with no signs of advancement or collaboration for more than ten years. The change in the United States administration has allowed for some development with the Israeli authorities including the military, but when it comes to resolution of conflict on the Palestine issue, there has not been any anticipated modification in the peace talks. The US foreign policy concerning such issues relating to Israel have been altered and modified many times, and it is hoped that the Obama administration might be able to bring forth a change. They can pertain to unswerving viable and political pressure on the Middle East as opposed to their European counterparts, regardless of the political implications of their previous plans of action. The US could be relied upon to indict peacemaking efforts, processes and operations wherever there is need for international support in this issue, as they have done in the past. In this paper, I will analyze the current events and issues revolving around the Israel/Palestine conflict with regards to US foreign policy.

Introduction

The Middle East matters including the conflict between Palestine and Israel, and Iranian nuclear control clash and the management of resources have been in and out of the media circus for the past decade. As a very militarized section of the world with generally high and unregulated weaponry sales and religious authority, the Middle East remains a source of intimidation for universal peacemaking procedures, while remaining guarded with outside political powers interfering with their domestic problems. Looking at some of the past actions of the US directed towards them, such as the war on Iraq, their position is also understandable. It is common religious fact that the Palestinians have resided in their country since four thousand years before Christ. According to history, the ancestral city of Jerusalem, Nablus, Jericho, Beisan, Acca and Jaffa was built by the Palestinians solid efforts, after which the Hebrews arrived, in 1400-1200 B.C. The Hebrew dominion lasted about 80 years, during the rule of King David and Soloman, after which the rule passed onto the Greek and Roman authorities.

The rule went back to Islam by 637 A.D, while the Christian community was still dominant In society. Israel came into the picture in 1948, when it gained independence and occupied the Palestinian land. After 1967, the Palestinians lived under total Israeli control, and their struggles to gain back their land have been well-documented but largely ignored in lieu of more dominant nations and their problems. Israel has long been the more favored ones in Western society, through arms support and strategic regional support. Because of this, the Palestinians have fought a hard war in order to gain their occupied lands as well as the attention of the Western superpowers.
