Tuberculosis in Oman

Introduction

The purpose of this paper is to enlighten and explore the occurrence of tuberculosis in Oman. The paper also aims to discover the mortality and morbidity rate coresponding tuberclosis in Oman, and strives to compare the statistics with the cases of tuberculosis in UAE. The study enlightens several chronic aspects of the diseases and the analysis caters the strategies adapted by Oman to cope with the issues of tuberclosis inclination. Nevertheless, numerous cases were misdiagnosed as pneumonia; hence, the actual mortality figures for TB probably were inaccurate. Some authorities claimed TB arrived with infected miners, who spread the disease by coughing and expectorating infectious tubercle bacilli. The disease remained a serious health problem in Oman until the development of streptomycin and other effective anti-TB drugs. However, there are several issues in the healthcare sectors of Oman and UAE that influences of TB mortality and morbidity (healthcare accessibility, expensive healthcare services, lack of skilled specialists and practitioners).

Signs and Symptoms- How it Happens?

The causative agent of tuberculosis is the bacillus Koch. This is a strictly aerobic bacillus characterized by acid-resistant, free mobility, slow growth, which is inactivated ra- radiation and higher temperatures yos 60 ° C. There are several similar species involved in the complex M. Tuberculosis including M. bovis, M. africanum and M. microti. By extension, it also applies the name of TB disease caused by M. bovis. Tuberculosis culosis grows slowly and unimpeded inside macrophages. Usually there is a single focus, in the middle or lower lung and may, eventually can be undermined to the vertices and other parts of body. It is the incubation period elapsed since the spread until immune reaction ensues specific logic. After reaching sufficient bacterial load, the inflammatory reaction occurs and triggers cellular immunity in bacterial growth. In most cases, this "first- infection "is controlled by the mediated immunity, and later takes a severe form. Tuberculosis can mimic other disease entities like, ischemic enteritis, inflammatory bowel diseases, malignancies, intussusception etc., clinically as well as morphologically in resected intestinal specimens. We aimed to study the various clinical presentations leading to intestinal resection, with identification of different etiological factors by histopathological examination; and to illustrate, discuss and describe the various histopathological features of the lesions in these resected intestinal specimens with clinicopathological correlation.
