Trigrams of Taekwondo

Introduction

The eight trigrams is part of the fundamentals of Feng Shui. These trigrams have their origins for nearly 4000 years. The Tao is the source or root of the whole universe, where the Tao T'ai-chi or Yin Yang duality is perfectly balanced. When this duality splits, it combines everything else, including the eight trigrams, the elements, the 64 hexagrams, the 24 directions or mountains, and so on.

Discussion

The eight trigrams are symbols which represent the possible combinations of direct form of Yin and Yang Yin, where energy is represented as a half cut line. On the other hand, Yang energy is a continuous line. The combinations of these stripes give a total of eight possible pairs, four and four for Yin Yang. These eight trigrams are also known as Pa'kua or Bagua which means eight mutations or changes (Edward 2002, pp. 69). In Feng Shui, the eight trigrams and their interpretation are known as the Bagua School. Each trigram has a name, address, a natural feature, an element and a family role. Basic features of Eight Trigrams

The geomantic Lo'Pan or compass has 36 concentric rings. Their combination is what creates the reading of a place. When the eight trigrams speak of the energy of the universe, whose laws and principles are permanent, it is called the Circle of Heaven Previous (Ho-Tu). This is the fundamental law as based on this, changes take place in everything.

KEON = Heaven and Light (Mighty, Male, Yang Pure). Heaven - South - Father

It is the symbol of "Keon", one of the 8 Kwaes (divine signs). The philosophical meaning is "sky and light". Keon represents the inception of the creation of everything in the universe, similar to the Taegeuk Il Chang in the training of Taekwondo. The related trigram symbolizes Yang, which is heaven and light. Hence, the execution of this Poomse needs to be done with the greatness of Heaven (Charles 2002 pp. 125).
