Treaty of Rome

The Treaty of Rome was signed on March 25th 1957. Many consider the Treaty of Rome as the seedling that has grown into the European Union. The treaty brought the European Economic Community and the European Atomic Energy Commission.

Supporters of greater European co-operation had been sustained by the formation of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) in April 1951.
