Impact of Tourism Development in the Coastal Regions
In coastal areas, tourism is often the main economic activity, sometimes with adverse effects due to the seasonal and unskilled labor, poor integration between the coast and interior, the low economic diversification and the impoverishment of the heritage natural and cultural. Initiative report adopted, proposed as a solution to develop tourism activities throughout the year, while protecting the coastal heritage (Beaver, Allan, 2002, p. 313).
Tourism plays a crucial role for the development of a country in the modern world. Every year, more than 50 million people travel from other countries to Spain, where most visitors come from France, Portugal, Germany and Great Britain. The tourism particularly focused on the continental, coastal regions on the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea and the Balearic and Canary Islands. Moreover, the record also culturally and historically interesting cities of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Cordoba and Granada high visitor numbers. Construction and operation of the infrastructure needed for the many visitors resulted mainly in the coastal regions of extreme economic and ecological changes (Beaver, Allan, 2002, p. 313).
The aim of this work, which is applying cutting edge technology, is to obtain a thorough knowledge of the environment at different stages of tourism development, and diagnose their condition and its evolutionary perspective as role models obtained. In this way, and scientific criteria, the researchers propose to the competent authorities strategies to positive economic development for local societies, but without losing a sustainable approach to the use of these fragile coastal areas (Singh, 2008, p. 189).
Develop tourism activities throughout the year
The initiative report calls for the diversification of products and services with an emphasis in this context, the importance that is the conversion of traditional seasonal business entities providing activities throughout the year thanks to the diversification of tourism products and alternative forms of tourism (tourism business, cultural, medical, sporting, agricultural and marine, for example). It encourages the coastal members to develop strategies and integrated plans at national and regional levels (Lew, Alan, 2008, p. 409-419).
For an integrated approach
The development of an integrated approach to coastal tourism and community cohesion policies, shipping, fisheries, environmental, transport, energy, health and welfare, to create synergies and avoid contradictory responses. It is recommended to the coastal members to apply this integrated approach at the program, when selecting and implementing projects related to the coast, and in particular by encouraging the creation of public-private partnerships, to reduce pressure on local governments concerned. Parliament also calls on the coastal areas to create and support regional development agencies or local level to create networks between professionals, institutions, experts and government within a territory, and between different countries with an advisory and information for potential beneficiaries and private (Quinion, Michael, 2005).
