Tour operator

Tour operators are enterprises that blend two or more journey services (e.g. transport, places to stay, catering, amusement, and sightseeing) and deal them through journey bureaus or exactly to last buyers as a single product. Tour operator is a very essential part of Travel and Tourism sector. A Tour Operator buys a high volume of travel services across carriers, accommodation and services. These services then assembled into packages for purchase by the consumer. The packages sold via travel agents or through the phone and internet. A good example of a tour operator is Thomas Cook (Klemm, 2001).

Types of Tour Operators

Incoming Tour Operators

These are the tourist operators who manages tourist coming from overseas countries to the homeland of the tourist. These incoming tour operators have extensive knowledge of their area where they live which also makes their job a very easy task. There are many tour operators which centre in managing received overseas holiday marks and have changed position to the forthcoming tour operator (Gartner, 1994).

Domestic Tour Operators

These known as those tourists who work inside their own country with their own people. This means that the job of a domestic tour operator is to entertain the domestic customers who are living in the same home place of that of the tourist. Domestic tour operators contract with local people for example UK citizen travel in UK like London travel and service specialize in London casing not only accommodation, rail and flights but also entertainment tickets (Abbott, 1997).

Outbound tour operators

These are just the opposite of incoming tour operator. The job of the incoming tour operator is to entertain customers coming from abroad to their place. Whereas, the job of the outbound tour operator is to arrange the tourism activities of the local to the distant places (Abbott, 1997).

Types of Tourist products

Circuits and mini tours. The product composed of several services, aircraft, hospitality, accommodation, sightseeing, guides, transportation, etc. The circuit and the mini circuit course, includes transportation to / from between the town of residence and destination, assistance departure and arrival, and transfer between the place of arrival and place of departure circuit, and the same for the return, plus assistance to current circuit be it done by a professional tour guide or an assistant Tour operator representing the issuer, or both at once (Carey, 1997).
