Importance of Human Resources for Organizations
Introduction
Human resources management is a discipline that covers the functions of making policy as regards to providing necessary human resources, employing and developing them, planning, organizing, directing and auditing in order to obtain competitive superiorities in the organization. These functions should be organized in such a way that, on the one hand the aims of the company are realized, and on the other hand the needs of the employers are satisfied and at the same time the responsibilities of the company to the society are fulfilled. This definition covers two types of studies. The first one is, the techniques which include knowledge, capability, method and applications as to the subjects such as employing, testing, classifying, appointing and reporting whether or not an employee is qualified for a promotion which are formerly referred to as personnel management. The second one covers more wide-ranging strategies such as politics regarding human resources, plans, employer-employee relations and the condition of the personnel against the organizational developments. In a modern sense, human resource management includes finding the personnel and employing them and it also covers the education, improvement, motivation and evaluation of the personnel.
So as to realize all of these functions companies should employ manpower planning and programming. It is quite impossible for the mangers to reach the manpower source and to evaluate the personnel by employing them on their own. Therefore, Robert et al. (2004) mentioned that it is necessary for an organization to employ a department whose expertise is human resource management.
Discussion
The product of human resource management is a skillful, ambitious, efficient employee. Since human resource management is open to development, it leads the organization to success. However, if the human resource management isn't open to development, all the organization have to bear its consequences. It is necessary to have technical abilities and knowledge about how and why people work to take care of the people in an organization. (Noel, 2000)Among these technical abilities are understanding the mechanisms of fringe benefit and indemnity plans and to have a knowledge of related laws, agreement procedures, techniques of choosing employees and performance evaluations. Also it is indispensable to know about behavior and social psychology.
