This paper is discussing about the role of direction in the movie 'Titanic'; the way it enhanced and complement the story. Some of the elements are evaluating in this paper such as, lightening, characters, and music.

Titanic is a film from 1997 written, produced and directed by James Cameron about the sinking of the liner RMS Titanic. Cameron was even the editor and designer of the movie; the sketches drawn by Leonardo in the movie were actually designed by Cameron himself (Parisi, 34). He has succeeded in mixing fiction and reality which has given a good plot to the movie.

Lightening
The lightening and setup of the movie was established to beautify the concept of the film. The setup of the ship and everything was managed carefully to give the look of a destroying ship in real. The effects of the lights have been used tremendously to support the story. Especially in the 2nd half, when the ship was about to sink; it has tremendous lightening and sound effects.
Characters
The main characters and the love story of the movie are fictional, but many of the secondary characters (such as members of the crew and some passengers in first and second class) are based on actual historical figures, as well as footage of the real Titanic sunk in the bottom of the Atlantic that open the film.
