There is nothing simpler than this, people: things that are close to each other are perceived as more related than things that are farther apart. As this principle is not based on a foreign structure, it is among the first principles affect our perception and understanding where we draw. Each of us intuitively understands that the easiest way to indicate the relationship is to manipulate the vicinity.
