Strong feelings of nationalism all through Europe former to The Great War conceived an air in Europe which made war likelihood. The spark which ignited the blaze and changed these inherent difficulties into a rush of hostilities occurred on June 28, 1914, when Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated by a Serbian scholar, Gavrilo Princip, while travelling to Sarajevo, Bosnia.  Many historians address this to be the spark that begun WW1.
