Amongst all such growth, the healthcare sector has also been revolutionized and industrialized to provide better services to the consumers or the users in the industry. The health care sector is one of the fastest-growing and the largest industries in the world. The health care sector makes up a huge part of the country's economy by utilizing more than 10 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) of the developed nations. This paper will discuss the impacts of the technological advances in the healthcare industry, the changes brought by this impact, and the implications that it has on the economy.

Healthcare

The health care sector refers to such a provider in the economic system which facilitates the provision of services and goods in order to treat patients with preventive, curative, palliative, rehabilitative, or sometimes, unnecessary care. It may be an institution or a person who is charged with the responsibility of providing the products and services to the patients and individuals, who need them and even those who do not need them. The World Health Organization (WHO) assesses that there are more than 19.4 million midwives and nurses, 9.2 million physicians, 2.6 million pharmacists and other pharmaceutical personnel, 1.9 million dentists and other dentistry personnel, and more than 1.3 million community health workers globally, that makes the health care sector the largest workforce segment (World Health Organization, 2011).
