Judah Halevi, 1075-1141 is one of the best known and most beloved of medieval Hebrew poets, partially because of his passionate verses of yearning for the Land of Israel and partially because of the legend of his death as a martyr while reciting his Ode to Zion at the barriers of Jerusalem. He was also one of the premier theologians of medieval Judaism, having in writing a treatise on the significance of Judaism that is still investigated and venerated by customary Jews [1].
