CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
This chapter will provide the background, objectives and the layout of the entire dissertation. It will focus upon the aims, objectives and the research questions that will be studied in the research.
Problem Statement
The study at hand deals with the subject of IT developments and employee productivity. It assesses the relationship and impact of IT competencies required in the 21st century on the productivity of employee that work in the professional service firm.
Research Objectives
The current study deals with the following research objective:
Elaboration upon the context of Information Technology and employee productivity;
The impact of the IT implications on employee productivity in an organization;
Determinaition of the relationship between IT and the performance of employees.
Research Question
Following questions have been researched upon in the current subject:
How is the IT and employee productivity related to each other in service organization?
What is the impact of the IT implications on employee productivity in an organization?
What is the managerial implications regarding the effectiveness of IT on the performance of employees?
CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW
This chapter presents the extensive information researched for the purpose of giving a generalized background to the study. An extensive research regarding the history, background and general types and trends in the fields of communication.
Information Technology
The convept of Information technology (IT) refers to the treatment of information through technology. The acquisition, processing, storage and dissemination of vocal, pictorial, textual and numerical information by a microelectronics-based combination of computing and telecommunications are its main fields. The term IT in its new context appeared for the first time during the year 1958 in an article which was published in the Harvard Business Review. In the article, the writer in Whisler and Leavitt mention that the modern technology which has come into existence does not possess a single proper name, therefore, we call it the IT or Information Technology. (Jon, Barrutia, Hoyos, 2009, 164). Numerous emerging and advanced areas of the IT are the next generation global information systems, bioinformatics, web technologies, large scale knowledgebases, cloud computing, etc. the computer science has been the major field of advancements form the past many years (Daniel, 2001, 32)
