The Pros and Cons of Being a Single Mom

As mother married I have met many parents sometimes difficult and of course mostly under appreciated. Now that I am single mother of four, I realize how good those days were compared. All moms know that most of responsibility of raising our children falls on us from conception, but as single mothers, even toughest job in world is ten times more difficult by absence of father and be head of the lone parent to be outnumbered by children with no one to make backups.

My ex has never been the very involved father during marriage; she traveled often and worked late regularly. When he was home, was usually only one person to serve. When interacting with children, which was brief and in middle of business calls and endless hours on computer. His playing time with them was just that, and responsibilities of parenting fell mostly on me. However, fact that we were married and he was present at figure of father supporting my custody made the big difference between then and now.

Since my divorce, parental status has obviously changed. My ex and I can have civil conversations about children, their schedules and needs, but it seems that we are on opposite sides. This obviously can make co-parenting more difficult. Most single mothers have co-parenting struggles with his ex, no matter how well they get along well. Often, and sometimes without them knowing it, our former, can undermine and dismissive and if our children are witnessing this shows the lack of support for single mothers and usurping our authority with our children.

I face same challenges as any single mother who does, and for most part I have the civil relationship with my ex, but as no-show respect to me constantly as the mother of our children or take an active role in supporting me as the father and our party, which displays and has the significant impact on my children how to respond to me as an authority figure.
