The Impact of Training and Development on Worker Performance and Productivity in Public Sector Organization: A Case Study of Ghana
ABSTRACT
All of the leading organizations believe that human resource department is the key to their success. The problem that usually human resource departments face is the training. As the work, the focus of work and the way it is done is different in every organization so the basic issue that arises is to check the quality and the quantity in which the training should be given. Some of the establishments do not have an organized way of training their employees. On the other hand there are businesses who give immense importance to career development. They, for attaining their goals have an extremely organized way. First they see their employees' weaknesses which helps them recognize the field in which their employees need guidance. That is why this research paper will try to investigate the impact of training and development on worker performance and productivity in public sector organization taking Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) as a case study.

Introduction
The research topic for this research paper belongs to the field of human resource management in general. It further comes under the domain of training and development. It will target on administering the level of employee satisfaction in order to get company's targets. The title of this study is 'the impact of training and development on worker performance and productivity in public sector organizations; a case study of Ghana'. This research will be based on the electricity company. So, the subjects of this research paper will be the workers of the ECG.
Research Question
This research paper will be based on the study of connection between guidance and growth, and performance and productivity in the ECG. This thesis will aim at giving answers to the questions below:
What is the purpose of the training given in ECG?
What are the objectives of training in the view of authorities of the ECG?
What are the objectives of the training in the view of employees of the ECG and how do they see it?
How do the employees of ECG see their learning and growth on the whole? Are they gaining enough knowledge to get the essential information and competence that is required by their job?
To what degree does the training and development plan determines the output of the employees of ECG? How is the employee productivity enhanced by this plan?
Which training techniques resulted in the increased productivity of the employees of ECG?
Are the training drills of the development plan sufficient and satisfactory? If not, in which manner is the plan not fulfilling the requirements?
What are the positive and negative effects of training in ECG?
