Abstract

This paper briefly analyses the changes that were brought about through Fidel Castro rule and leadership. He faced many problems and his rule sometimes proved to be harmful for the country too, but in the end it proved to be beneficial for Cuba during the Cuban Revolution. This paper shows an argument between the two sides of his rule.

Introduction

Fidel Castro born in 1926 is a political leader in Cuba. He is responsible for transforming his country into a communist state. Before Castro, many Cubans went to United States and Spain as people lost everything they had. Cuba became an ally of the Soviet Union under his rule. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, United States was under the threat of Cuba in the 1960s. This had ended the trade and tourism between Cuba and America. Under Fidel Castro's leadership, Cuba prospered during the Cuban Revolution. Cuba was able to face the various threats and the U.S. embargoes effectively and maintain its mark on the map of the world. The following paper briefly discusses both the pros and cons of Castro's leadership and how his presence proved to be beneficial for the people of Cuba and the prosperity of the country. It also outlines various steps that were taken by Fidel during his early reign to acquire an independent state.

Discussion

There comes a point in many nations when the government fails to fulfill its responsibility, then a need for change arises. For Cuba, Fidel Castro played an important role for bringing about a change when then economy was fading. Fidel Castro had been a victim of several assassinations, U.S. embargoes and sabotages for over half a century, but despite all this he has remained committed to his mission of protecting Cuba during the Cuban Revolution. Fidel Castro was incited by Fulgencio Batista to take action and carry out the Monacada Barracks attack. In 1953, Fidel Castro and his revolutionaries carried out the attack. Fidel and his brother were able to escape from the casualties, but were arrested later. The trial he had to face later made him a prominent face in front of the world. The trial lasted for four hours and ended with him being sentenced to 15 years of prison. He was released in 1955 with the amnesty by Batista.
