Slavery in the United States was a twice crime. First, a slave was dehumanized by the very proceed of involuntary servitude. Second, slavery deprived them of their future. After their freedom, black Americans proceeded to labor for equality. The government can change regulations, but will not enforce them; particularly when prejudice is at the heart of the matter. After all, we are "free" to conclude how we seem, and to who we seem it. The government accepted that restitution was currently supplied to the slaves by giving them their freedom. However, the freedom to starve, pass away of infection, reside in insufficient covers or stay absolutely homeless with a family, without the aid or support of their community, a slave could barely be considered "free."
