The Elizabethan Poor Law of 1601 established a framework for defining poverty and helping those in need? and it also influenced the delivery of human services in colonial America.
In 1602 an attempt to stop most of the beggars? and even robbing people on the street saw the Elizabethan poor law introduced. That at least went some way to provide any means of livelihood for the poor and needy. He decided that each parish will be responsible for the welfare of their parishioners.
