Introduction

Moliere was born in Paris. His father was a prosperous upholster, the descendant of a long line of Beauvais tradesmen. Moliere studied with Jesuits at the College de Clermont where he had a firm upbringing. In 1643 he left behind his communal class and family's plans for his future for the theatre. With his ally he based the Illustre Theatre. It continued for over three years in Paris, and then shifted to the provinces (Hartnoll, 110).

The theatre had adequate success and it got the patronage of Philippe d'Orléans. After nearly fifteen years know-how of portraying, organising, and composing, Moliere returned to Paris. In 1658 he presented before the King Louis XIV, and coordinated a normal theatre under the patronage of the male sibling of the king. After a difficult start, Molière's plays relished popularity. Later in life Moliere intensified on writing musical comedies, in which the drama is cut off by pieces of music and promenade or a blend of both. In 1662 he wed almost 20 years junior capricious, giddy Armande Bejart, who may have been the illegitimate female child of his previous mistress, and who shortly antagonized several his friends.
