The Advantages of Bilingualism

The Advantages of Bilingualism

Introduction

Communication plays a significant role in human life. Communication consists of two factors, which are speech and language. The whole process requires involvement of learning and a code that processes a linguistic unit. All the related process and organization takes place in this very unit and requires the use of cognitive skills. Therefore, it can be said that communication is an outcome of collaboration of cognizance and language. These cognitive procedures help in shaping linguistic skills to communicate (Stephen. S. et al., 2010).

Today, one's ability to speak more than one language is considered as a practical benefit in the era of globalization. It is a proved fact by scientists that benefits of bilingualism are far more than communicating numerous people. Bilingualism affects brain and makes it process information more effectively. It nourishes and improves cognitive skills and protects against dementia old age.
