Terrorism is multifaceted and controversial topic. The reason behind terrorism being a highly controversial issue is the fact that it involves so many aspects of human life such as psychology, politics, philosophy, history, and military strategy, to list a few. The subject of terrorism is poignant as it incorporates the terrorists' experiences when they carry out terrorist acts spurred by an emotional overload, as the terrorists justify their use of violence as right based on their feelings. Therefore, terrorism evokes strong feelings unquestionably upon discussion in any setting (Reich, 1998).

Goals and Objectives of Terrorists

The main challenge in understanding terrorism is the need for acknowledgement of the moral outrage at acts of violence while simultaneously trying to understand the rationale behind such acts. The objective of terrorists could range from personal agendas or as a part of a radical movement. However, terrorism is generally driven by a specific goal rather than blind rage (Martin, 2010). Here, are a few goals that terrorists try to achieve by committing acts of violence against the masses:

1.To engender a widespread fear in the public, which is so paralyzing that it shakes the faith.

2.Gain a global, national, or local recognition for their cause through becoming the center of attraction in the media.

3.Harassment, weakening, or exploiting the government defense to make it overreact and appear suppressive.

4.In order to execute extortion of money, valuable equipment, or weapons and ammunition for mass destruction, which they require for their operations.

5.To put a stop to the economic growth by discourage foreign direct investments (FDIs), tourism, and assistance programs, which impact the country's economy and support the government.

7.Influencing government decisions, legislation, etc. in their favor.

8.Release of prisoners.

9.To have their demands met under any condition.

10.To turn the tables in a guerrilla war by forcing the government to concentrate its security forces in urban ...
