Introduction

On September 11, 2001 everybody around the world saw in disbelief when the planes hit the missiles into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. This shocked the entire world and thus in order to avenge, U.S declared war on terror on Al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden. Although, there are elements of Al-Qaeda still present in Afghanistan, their leader was tracked down and killed after ten years. However, the war has raised many issues that are related with civil liberties, security around the world and the implications of waging war in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Discussion

It's been twelve years since the terrorist's attacks in the U.S had taken place. There have been various changes since then seen in the world. There are a lot of questions that arise due to the effects of war and were it even successful in fighting the terrorists. We can say the killing of the Al-Qaeda leader was a big success, the cost of vengeance and not justice has been great. Many would feel that the world is less secure place than it was twelve years ago. There is so much talk of the war, economic recession, globalization and changes in the environment that nothing feels safe and happy. The downturns of the wars have been many. Firstly, on a global level all around the world people consider Muslims as terrorist and Islam being a religion of threat for the world. There has been religious discrimination and there is disrespect for Muslims from individuals with racist backgrounds. This has caused Muslims around the world to feel unsafe and unwanted part of the society. Further, there have been many deaths in the U.S wars and many feel that there is much more to these wars than simply erasing the terrorists. There has been increased hatred for the U.S as deaths of totally innocent people had occurred more than the wrong doers. There has been increase in potential threats against the U.S and it was seen that after so much use of power, weapons there has been little of what has been achieved in the war. In the wars there have been more than six thousand deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq and some may argue that Al-Qaeda became successful in decreasing U.S's global power. Many of the elite of foreign policy makers believed that President Bush over reaction continues till today with more to lose than to achieve (Jim, 2011).

There has been speculation from various departments that Bush administration allowed Taliban to regroup in Afghanistan and lead it to continue with more expensive military operations. The cost of operations has been huge and according to estimates there are about five trillion U.S dollars that have been incurred much to the dismay of their tax payers.
