The purpose of this term paper is to discuss the Nursing Informatics with specific reference to the Electronic Health Records (EHR). Nursing informatics is the discipline that links nursing, informatics and information technology. Nursing Informatics is a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science and information, identification, collection, processing and handling of data and information to support the nursing practice, administration, education, research and development of nursing knowledge. Computers in nursing have been described as a core competency for health professionals in general and nurse in particular for the century. The core competencies in nursing informatics practice distinguish at 4 levels: beginner, experienced, specialist and innovative. Furthermore, the layout of the paper is divided into sections such as introduction, background of the Nursing Informatics, its significance, benefits, implications and conclusion.

Introduction
The management and control of health is based on the use, transmission and comparison of large amounts of data, information and heterogeneous knowledge. The need to exchange data has increased dramatically, both within a structure health and geographically distant. The spread of computers and computer networks seems to meet the growing need for storage, processing and transmission of clinical data in a more extensive computerization of the health system. The rise in cost and complexity of the organization in fact, requires an adequate information system, which ensures efficiency, and the adequacy of performance made with respect to best practices. The medical record is the tool used for clinical data management of a client, data that are collected during meetings with health care, prevention or during episodes of illness.
Nursing informatics has now become the essential feature for smoother functioning of the healthcare services and to meet the unstable demands of the patients. Nursing informatics involves the use of hi-tech information and technology to enhance the patient's healthcare, education and clinical research. The adoption of the new technologies in the healthcare has impacted the healthcare industry positively across the globe.
Today, nursing worldwide, takes matters which are recently ventured into different countries around the world. Functions care, teaching, administrative, and research of nurses, the implementation of new technologies, the necessary management of large volumes of patient data, make necessary a provision, management and treatment of information efficiently and effectively. Since the computer responds appropriately to these new needs, is what emerges in the global scope of nursing, the term informatics in nursing or nursing informatics, as it is called internationally (Wager, Wickham & Glaser, 2009).
Electronic Medical Archive (EMA) is an important nursing informatics. It is an electronic data warehouse containing any personal medical record stored on electronic media (EPMZ), and other data sets and programs (classifiers and reference lists of patients and staff, navigation, search, visualization, interpretation, integrity checks and signature, printed EPMZ, ...
