Technology Changes: Effects on Society during the Periods of 1974 - 2000 and 1880 - 1910

Technology is playing an important role in today's world, and this role is increasing rapidly with the passage of time. Things that were difficult to do in the past have now become quite convenient after the advent of technology. Technology has changed the overall scenario throughout the world. In previous times, a number of tasks were considered almost impossible to be done, but since then continued enhancement in the world of technology has made those tasks either simple or automatic. The devices and the equipment that is commonly used in the world at present have been manufactured or created by the application of technology. Society was affected significantly by the growth and development of technology in both the 1975 - 2000 and 1880 - 1910 time periods. The effects on families spread amongst many jobs over the years. Technology has advanced many aspects of our lives; but its affects are far reaching in both positive and negative ways.

Technology has made a deep impact on the society as well. Since the arrival of technology in industries, factories and manufacturing businesses, the overall scenario regarding production have changed drastically. In the past, production of items was quite slow since tasks were performed manually. These tasks not only consumed a lot of time, but were very difficult as well to be accomplished. Later on, when technology started to impact the world, these tasks became simpler than ever before. It became possible to attain huge production levels with convenience. Attaining such high levels in the past times was considered almost impossible. With the advent of technology, industrial processes and other related tasks became automated and assisted by the technology. New and improved tools started to be made which made things simpler. Moreover, the lives of the human workers also became safer. With the application of technology in the industry, bulk production of goods became possible.

Let us consider the impacts of technology on the society in context of time periods of 1880-1910 and 1974-2000.

Started from 1880, the most important impact of technology on the society was made by the invention of photophone. The photophone was a device that used light to transmit sound from one place to another. It was jointly invented by Alexander Graham Bell and Charles Sumner Tainter. The photophone was indeed regarded by Graham Bell as his greatest achievement and invention. Earlier, Graham bell had invented telephone, a device that used electricity to transmit voice from one place to another through a wire. Telephone brought about a revolutionary change in the society. Before the invention of telephone, there were no means to transmit voice from one place to another. Telephone therefore became an integral part of daily life. It gained worldwide acceptance.
