As a new team leader for a group of Teaching Assistants, I have to manage the team ensuring that they give appropriate support in the range of classes within the school. I would make use of two strategies to address this team member's problems. The first strategy would be to ensure that the problem currently at hand does not hinder the performance of the team member during the inspection. The second strategy would continue through the long run and stretch through an elongated period of time.

The team members need to realize that Ofsted's inspection is only one of the many times that the team will face unpleasant challenges if they do not begin to coordinate. The unsupportive team member needs to realize the responsibilities that come with position that that team member holds. Under the current scenario, the members seem to have lost the ability to synergize their productivity. The strategies that are needed to address and rectify this scenario need to return this ability to the team members; and to the isolated team member in particular.

The fact that several team members have come to me to complain about the team member is a dangerous sign. It indicates that the team member has been isolated by the rest of the team. As a result, I will have to exercise a strategy that enables the isolated team member to become a part of the team again. This is because I think that the team will be incapable of achieving synergy unless all the team members are able to function in coordination and support each other.
