Introduction

Cognitive Skills are important as they play a vital role in the learning and development of oneself. Those students and learners who have fully developed cognitive system do not feel and experience as many problems as does those who possess some kind of inability in neural and cognitive processes. This issue is gaining momentum in the current scenario as Education is considered the right of all and an indicator of personal as well as social and economic development.

The recognition of such issues; which not only include mental incapacity but also physical and social constraints, prompts the teaching staff and consultants to constantly update teaching methodologies and devise strategies that are aligned with the needs of those suffering with some kind of incapacity. It is imperative for those methodologies; for those teaching and learning tactics to be effective enough that they justify the cost incurred. It is important to be said because in the arena of Teaching and Education, methods through which evaluation is done and students' progress are gauged results mostly in subjective responses. Subjective responses are like double-edged sword; it may present distorted judgmental capability or it may help in continuous improvement of teaching and education strategies.

Extensive research is therefore required to highlight strategies with effective evaluation tools so that feedback could help in identifying the loopholes and implementing better strategies so as to rectify them.

Discussion

Many of the issues are found to be plaguing the learning institutes; creating hindrances in the students' ability to effectively understand and learn what is being taught. The most common that is faced by students are Autism and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Then there are students who are experiencing or going through tragic times which affect their psychological conditions; thus cannot concentrate on what is being taught, known as distressed/stressed learners.

Various such disorders which create impediment in learning are identified; some effective to certain minimal extent whereas some might be of so intense effects that student might start thinking about withdrawal. It is common among diverse array of students; even in those who are seen as academically competent to have anything interfere in their academic life, becomes target of such situations.

The two issues that we will be discussing are Distressed/stressed learning and Early language and literacy development. The learners we will be focusing on therefore are stressed learners for distressed/stressed learning and children for early language development and literacy. We will look into both the issues separately and identify innovative learning steps and strategies that are required to be implemented to make the learning experience for these learners rewarding and effective.

These issues pose significant problem because generally the learner feel incapable of learning and thus end up failing the course which instills post-failure trauma because of social unacceptability among peers and stigma attached. Concern related to chosen topics will be discussed in detail under their specific heads.
