Introduction

The Tanker "Tasman Spirit" was found stranded on the Channel dock of Karachi, on July 27, 2003 at 13:35 the boat with a cargo of 67,535 tones of Iranian lightweight crude oil was going for the delivery of the consignment in Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) in Karachi when the grounding of the boat occurred. A large amount of oil spilled into the sea. Tasman Spirit leaked throughout the evening of August 13 and about 27,000 tons of cargo was lost. On August 22 the ship farther disintegrated.  On August 29 and September 4 new oil spills had been reported.
