Internet piracy refers to the use of the Internet for illegally copying or distributing unauthorized software.
Introduction
The offenders use the Internet for all or some of their operations including the advertising, offering, acquiring, or distribution of pirated software. The Business Software Alliance (BSA), a programs commerce trade association, approximates that there are 840,000 Internet sites trading illicit programs as the genuine thing. Many buyers who buy programs over the Internet not ever really obtain the programs they paid for. Others are not adept to get their cash back if they find out that the programs they came by is counterfeit. Disreputable Internet enterprises often rapidly disappear, departing behind hundreds of dissatisfied customers.

Illegal online enterprises often have professional-looking Internet sites that could fool even the most skilled on-web shopper.
