SWOT Analysis of New York Presbyterian Hospital

Introduction

New York Presbyterian Hospital is a well known university hospital in the city of New York, having affiliations with the Columbia University College of physicians and Surgeons and Cornell University Weill Medical College, of the Ivy League medical schools. It has two main medical centers named after the medical school with which the hospital has associations. The hospital is among the finest in the world, and ranks 6th in the US, and is a serious international referral center. The Sloane Hospital for women was also incorporated in the hospital later in 1925, giving it its competencies as the leader in gynecology and obstetrics.

Historical evaluation

The hospital was established in 1771 by King George the 3rd, of England, who granted the Royal Charger. It was later affiliated with the WCMC when it was established in 1898 and is the second oldest hospital in the US. The generous donation of a sum of more than 20million dollar by Payne Whitney helped the expansion of the hospital to a great extend, and the Payne Whitney Psychiatric Clinic is named after him in his honor. The hospital is dedicated and provides one of the best patients cares in the world. The Center of excellence was formed with the help of the hospital's great physicians and healthcare professionals. It provides a variety of services of the best quality being the 6th best hospital in the nation. These services include aids care, burn center, complementary care center, digestive, diseases, gene, therapy, preventive medicine, reproductive medicine and infertility, trauma center, vascular medicine, weight loss surgery, and women's health as some (Bond S. 1994).
