CHAPTER 3: METHODOLOGY

3.1 Overview of the Research Methodology

The purpose of the study is quite clear and apparent which matches with the research objectives of the study. The main objective of the topic is to assess the possibility of the combination of logistics and procurement activities. The qualitative research method was followed in the research along with quantitative data as well related to the integrated procurement and logistics. This study was very much dependent on primary research method because the data had a significant impact on the qualitative aspects of the research. The model that was followed in this research allowed for the collection of qualitative data and some of the data of the quantitative methods was explained in the research as well. The research methodology was hugely dependent on the primary aspect of the research. The primary method involved the development of the questionnaires and interview questions prepared for the research.

There were 10-12 participants who were selected for the study. The reason why these participants were selected was to obtain maximum information regarding the responses generated for the Supply Chain Management activities like procurement and logistics. The respondents who were selected for the research included the professionals working in different departments of their respective company. The employees that were selected for the research included employees working in aluminium extraction, smelting and Refinery Company. All the employees were working in different designations in these companies and they had to experience the supply chain activities on day to day basis. Therefore, this is the overall review of the research methodology followed in the research.

3.2 Research Design and Model

The research design is usually prepared after the investigation the research problem. The proper investigation makes it easier for the researcher to draft a proper methodology in order to construct reasonable findings for the research. There is a need to identify the possibility of the combination between logistics and procurement activities. This is the reason why a suitable research design is needed to conduct a detailed investigation of the research. This research model encompasses some of the important facts related to the different aspects of supply chain management and its focus on the integrated procurement and logistics. The model includes an example of a case study that highlights the overall management of Supply Chain activities in a particular company. The objective is to assess the role of employers and employees in giving their best of efforts for the implementation of integrated procurement and logistics activities.
