Evaluation is the process for accumulating data about the worth or value of something as a way of producing decisions designed to increase its worth or quality” Harris (2007). It is the systematic acquisition of response on the use, worth or influence of some undertaking, programmed or process in relative to its proposed outcome.(Adelman, 2002) Though evaluation is put at the end, it is in detail continuous and on-going process that takes location at all the stages of the teaching cycle. Depending on the time of evaluation, we can categorize evaluation as formative and summative.

Formative Assessment

Summative Assessment

Summative evaluation usually aims at assessing the effectiveness of a learner completion. The aim of carrying out summative evaluation may be either describing or validating a course. The next questions may be considered while taking up a summative approach:
What did the learner achieve?
What lessons were discovered for the future?
In other words, in a course summative evaluation is used to referee the value of distance educating components or effectiveness of support system to see if they have worked as intended.
