Sudan; crisis in Darfur



Abstract

The state of affairs in the Darfur province of the Sudan has been labeled as the worst caring crisis of the world these days a disagreement connecting rebel forces in one side, as well as the Government of Sudan and the administration backed Janjaweed armed force on the other side, left between 10,000 to 30,000 citizens dead. An expected 1.3 million inhabitants have been relocated from their houses. In this paper background to Darfur's conflict and international response to this humanitarian crisis will be discussed.

Introduction

The continuing crisis in the province of Darfur in the western Sudan has increased the serious issues regarding a chief humanitarian disaster, according to an expected estimation about one million citizens displaced and over 140,000 inhabitants enforced into near Chad. In fact there is not any reliable approximation of number of inhabitants killed in consequence of the clash. Discussion

Background

The disaster in the province of Darfur started from the month of February in the year 2003, at what time two insurgent groups came out to confront the NCP government in the Darfur. The disaster in the province of Darfur in the western Sudan has showed the way to the most important humanitarian tragedy, with an expected 1.9 million populace displaced, and over

240,000 citizens enforced into bordering Chad, and about 450,000 citizens killed. In the mid of 2004, the Senate and the House confirmed the killings in the Darfur genocide, with the Bush government reached the similar conclusion in the month of September in 2004 (Monteiro, 2006). On 4th May, 2006, the of the National Unity Government and the Liberation Movement in Sudan signed an agreement known as the agreement of Darfur peace after approximately 2 years of discussions.
