Differences between Structural Contingency and Complexity Science
Structural contingency states the most effective organizational structure is one that fits those contingencies variable with which the organization has to do. For example, the degree of specialization in an organization produces the best performance when it is appropriate, given the size of the organization. Therefore, the results obtained from low-skill performance in a small organization, while for a large organization, the best results from high-performance specialty (Donaldson, 2001).
