Introduction

According to Mintzberg, Strategy is the way to think about the future, it is integrated into the decision-making process and is implemented on a formalized procedure which articulates some positive results.

The word comes from the ancient Greek language it is designed for military ("leadership" or "command" having originally meaning "the art of the general"). A strategy in military terms is a process and working mode in which all the aspects of the war fare are analyzed then then formulate a plan accordingly.

After the profound success of use of strategy in military, business world also adopt it as a main ingredient for the success and know it becomes the part and parcel of every organization whose main aim is to lead and satisfy their customer needs.

Currently, the concept of strategy is one of the most repeated words in business life and is thoroughly in the literature. At first glance it appears to be a concept stabilized, and consensus single direction, so that in most cases means is needless to their definition.

Reflection from the HBR

According to HBR, strategy is the masterpiece for any organization it seems to be a reflective mirror in which a company can scan their own image and formulate effective steps to queue the company objectives. The main aim of any organization is attainment of its desired goals and objectives. But the point of contention is how? When? Where?

It is a mantra which defines the way of goal attainment. Managers need to define and identify strategies in order to strengthen the rope of success. But the mantra didn't always work as according to the dreams sometimes it may turn to nightmares also, the reason is implementation of that strategy.

Reflection from the ECONOMIST

The mix and match of the business environment has proved the importance of strategy and its effective implementation. The dynamism in the environment give rise to the concept of strategic management, the concept leads to developing of new strategies to cater the business environment. From technology companies to Manufacturing giants both are looking to capitalize on every opportunity available.

Background

The concept of strategy was first initiated in Military. In military strategy can now be defined as the science of movement and war planning and economic dominance. Through the military strategy known were created intelligence and enhanced the art of war.

Sun Tzu was the strategist who in the fourth century BC wrote a book named The Art of War that addresses the concept of strategy implementation. Segundo Sun Tzu, the formulation of a strategy must satisfy four basic principles:

Principle of choice of place of battle: selection of markets where the company will compete.

Principle of concentration of forces: organization of company resources.

Principle of the attack: implementation of competitive actions of the company.

Principle forces direct and indirect: management of contingencies.
