Stereotypes associated with only Los Angeles are many, in particular. No reason for hatred related to this city is identified as yet. Since, the telephonic communications increased during that period because of decreasing number of free telephone line, as a result of increasing fax machines, the government introduced 818. Towards the end of 2009, it was evident that due to an increasing number of phone numbers another area code would be required, so 818 laid under a different area code 747 (www.csun.edu). The cities included under the area code 747/818 are as follows:
Stereotypes associated with Some Cities
There are some stereotypes which are associated with specific cities of California State; most of which are not true. These are six cities, are considered to be the most stereotyped throughout Los Angeles. The cities and their stereotypes include; Northridge (1994, rattle, roll and shake fame), Van Nuys (famous in songs and story), Chatsworth (porn capital of the Unites States), Tarzana, (hello to Jane and Cheetah), Sherman Oaks (gag me with a spoon), and Studio City (loved all around the globe).
Other Common Stereotypes
818 is not a Pollution Capital: This relates to the stereotype that California is the most polluted area of the United States, referring to it as the smog capital. In response to this stereotype, it has been found that except for particulates and ozone depletion, the rest of the forms of pollution are below the pre defined state and federal levels of pollution. This is true; however, these days the air of Los Angeles in way better than it used to be in the past. This became possible because of the Clean Air Act. There are some other cities which are polluted, but no stereotypes are associated with them.
