Is Stem Cell Therapy Beneficial In Curing Victims With Debilitating Diseases?
Introduction
Stem cell therapy s is revolutionizing the focus of treatment of many serious diseases. Replacing the cells of damaged tissue with new ones from the same patient is already a reality. It is the basis of cell therapy and regenerative medicine, the last great advance in biomedicine. Cell Therapy can be defined as the infusion or transplantation of whole cells into a patient for the treatment of an inherited or acquired disease. A stem cell is defined as an undifferentiated cell found in a tissue or organ, can renew itself, and differentiate to yield the major specialized cell types of the tissue or organ. The primary roles of adult stem cells are to maintain and repair the tissues where they are found. Regenerative medicine devotes to rebuilding damaged organs from stem cells including cloned cells, embryonic or fetal stem cells, or adult stem cells. Of all the different stem cell types, only adult stem cells therapy might offer more medical solutions because of avoiding the legal and ethical problems of embryonic-stem-cell and cloning approaches (Strauer, Schannwell and Brehm, 2009).
Various studied has found that stem cell therapy is scientific advancement that can cure most dangerious diseases, which can not be cured by other methods (e.g. cancer). The aim of this paper is to discuss how useful is stem cell therapy in curing victims with debilitating diseases.

Stem Cell: Treatment of Debilitating Diseases
Stem cells have a multitude of clinical use; it can be used in regenerative medicine, immunotherapy and gene therapy. In fact, in animals have been very successful with the use of stem cells to treat blood diseases, type 1 diabetes, Parkinson's, neuronal destruction and heart attacks (LeCouteur, 2008).
Many medical discoveries believe that stem cell treatments have the system to change the human face, cure disease and alleviate suffering. There are some treatments with stem cells, but most are still at an experimental stage. Medical research, anticipate that day with the use of technology from research to adult stem cells and embryonic, may treat cancer, diabetes, spinal injuries and damage to the muscles, as also can treat other diseases. Many promising treatments for serious diseases have been applied, using adult stem cells. The advantage of adult stem cells on embryonic is no problem as they are rejected, because stem cells are usually taken from the patient. There is still a major problem both scientific and social surrounding of this great way to research embryonic stem cells (Kang et al, 2005).
In recent years, is being investigated in the in vitro proliferation of umbilical cord stem cells to increase the number of stem cells and cover the total need for a transplant. These studies are very promising and may allow future use umbilical cord stem cells in gene therapy: we can and treat diseases caused by deficiency or defect of a given gene. Introducing a particular gene in the proliferation of stem cells ...
