Certification

The sports medicine specialists are often certified through the various boards, which are recognized by American Board of Medical Specialties. Some of the names of these boards are Boards of Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics and Family Practice. The other boards specifically related to the sports medicine are mentioned below.

American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) came into existence in 1954.

American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) came into existence in 1991.

After completing the basic education, the sports medicine specialist also enroll in the medicine fellowship program for two years.
