Usually, the idea that the sovereign or government is immune from cases or other legal actions except when it consents to them. Traditionally, this was an overall doctrinal position that presented Government, condition, and local government authorities defense from tort obligation that comes from the actions of govt. These days, the application of sovereign immunity is much less clear-cut, as different government authorities have waived obligation in different types of levels under different types of conditions.
