Sonny's Blues

Thesis Statement

A person should follow their heart and do what is right for them.

The topic of "Sonny's Blues" by James Baldwin focuses on if a individual should be accepted in making conclusions for their life, or if they should pursue their heart and do what is right for them. A individual starts with power numerous of which they either misplace along the way or become dysfunctional. At some issue along their heroic excursion a individual may retrieve their power and evolve new ones. Each stage of this excursion will have an effect on them and other ones round them. (Reilly, 58)

According to his male sibling, who narrates "Sonny's Blues," Sonny was a bright-eyed juvenile man full of gentleness and privacy. "When he was about as vintage as the young men in my categories his face had been brilliant and open, there was a allotment of copper in it; and he'd had magnificently direct dark eyes, a large gentleness and privacy. I marvelled what he looked like now" (Baldwin 272). Something occurred to Sonny, as it did to most of the juvenile persons growing up in Harlem. His personal excursion growing up in the roads initiated a large deal of inward turmoil about who he was and what kind of life he was to have. One thing for certain, by the time his mother past away, Sonny was prepared to get out of Harlem. “I observed his back. 'At smallest, I ain't discovering not anything you'd desire me to learn.' He banged the window so hard I considered the glass would go by plane out, and turned back to me. 'And I'm ill of the stink of these rubbish cans!' “(Baldwin 285).
