ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to examine if the international community's peace making operation to resolve the conflict in Somalia have been effective. Moreover the study also focused on the attitude of the international community towards the issue of this state, how realism can be applied to his conflict., will it be effective, and how Islamic extremism has been blamed for the extension of this study. A mixed method design was employed in this study. Major emphasis remained on collecting the secondary information as the nature of this topic is descriptive that require a comprehensive analysis of the scholarly review on the role of international community. On the other hand, primary research was conducted in the form of open ended interviews from the key politicians and the academic. It was found that the realism sees the good of the international community s a whole; it often leaves the issue of the troubled nation aside. The international community ash focused more on developing the central government instead of coming up with the peace making pacts, and the media and world leaders have portrayed Islamic extremism as the main players furthering this conflict, however this is not true. It is suggested that the future research should further this topic by extending on to the social and economic outcomes of this war and the possible effective intervention.
