Discrimination is only noticing differentiating behaviors; whereas prejudice is about giving a negative perspective. Discrimination is identification of fact, for instance, a person has red hair and the other has brown. It does not form any opinion; however, prejudice related to exhibiting hatred or derogation against some religion, color or race without having any information or knowledge about the group.
The term gender roles is used for the behavioral and social norms which are believed to be socially associated with a specific gender, based on the culture in which they live. Along with differentiation based on cultures, gender roles are also altered with the passage of time. Moreover, various, differences of opinion exist as to whether differences in observed gender roles are a result of social and cultural factors; thus, the outcome of socialization practices and the extent to which gender differences exist as a result of physiological or biological factors is also confusion (Gates, 2011).
Sex role socialization practices are derived from the behaviors resulting from interactions and reaction of various factors of socialization. These practices of socialization arises and changes with the passage of time and experiences. Thus, the sex roles which children exhibit may be entirely different from those of their parents, and this is because every person acts out from their senses. Moreover, the society prevailing in the United States is not gender-blind.
