Introduction

Tropical rainforests are hot moist communities often located close to equator. Tropical Rainforests receive anywhere from 60 to 160 inches of rain during year. There warm climate and humid weather house the diverse group of plants and animals. There are over fifteen million distinct plants and animals in this environment. (Philips 10)

Deserts of comprise of dry arid land that obtains little to no rainfall each year. There are many kinds of deserts. Some like Sahara desert are extremely hot while Takla Makan is rather cold. Deserts are often seen as huge districts of sand. Some deserts are made up of hills and rocky cliffs. Temperatures during day are very high but as moon rises there is the sudden drop in temperature. All of these factors make it very difficult to survive in the desert climate.

Taiga familiarity cold winters and cooling summers. There is the good amount of rain. During their long winters Taiga often obtains snowfall. The Taiga area stretches across northern hemisphere. They are evergreen trees, shrubs, and forbs growing all over this biome. Bogs are often formed after it rains due to deep depressions in ground from glaciers of past.

The tundra is simplest biome in terms of species composition and food chains. There is the low temperature and very little biotic diversity. Tundra's have short times of the year of development and reproduction. Energy and nutrients are in form of dead organic materials. (Sulavik 20)

Located mostly in Africa, Savannahs consist mostly of tall grasses and few trees. There is the dry season and the wet season in Savannahs. Large animals can turn the forest into the Savannah by smooshing vegetation in the particular area.

Grasslands are large areas with revolving hills of grasses and wildflowers. Grasslands are found on every countries but Antarctica. Sometimes grasslands are called prairies, savannahs, or steppes. The roots of grasses and small plants make soil rich and great for farming. Some of grasslands are used for animal grazing, too. There are 3 kinds of grasslands. Tall grasslands have very tall grass, up to 5 feet tall, and they get almost 30 inches of rain the year. Mixed grasslands have grasses that grow round 2-3 feet high. This kind of grassland gets about 15-25 inches of rain in the year. The third kind of grassland is short grasslands. This type of grassland is almost the desert. It has very short grass and only obtains 10 inches of rain each year.

The tropical rain forest is richest source of plant life on earth. There are so numerous distinct types of plants there, scientists don't even understand them all yet. It is the perfect place for growing plants. The mean warmth is 70 to 90 qualifications and there is abounding of water. Some canopy trees grow to 120 feet.
