SKILLS AND LEARNING STATEMENT

Introduction

The skills and learning statement is an academic paper in which the student has a chance to provide an evidence of the skills that he has developed and the things that he has learned through the course of study. In an SLS statement, the student has a chance to share his learning and experiences regarding a course of study and share his thoughts about the course. In this SLS statement, I will discuss my learning that I had made during the meetings with my project mentor, which would also include the experience of my presentation to my project mentor. I will discuss the fact that how well I had discussed the research questions in the course of my research, how have I demonstrated my interpersonal and communication through that course of study, and how do I perceive that the course will help me in my course of life.

Discussion

I always had an aim to develop a career in the field of accounting and finance, as I was always good at dealing with figures, analyzing figures and making sense out of these figures. For this purpose, I had chosen to go for the course of ACCA so that I can polish my skills and learn new things that could help me in my career, in the field of accounting. When I had, begun my ACCA I came to know that I have a chance to study at the Oxford Brookes University, as well, and obtain a degree in the field of applied accounting through conducting an applied research in the field of accounting.

When I started my applied research project, and had a meeting my project mentor for the first time, I had realized that it was not an easy job and, at times, it was very difficult as things had become very messy, and it was very difficult to manage all things at the same time. At the start, of the project, I had found out that it was not an easy job to conduct an applied research and that too in the field of accounting. It was very difficult for me to prepare myself for this task and make sure that I take every step in a proper manner and execute the task in a meaningful manner. In this regards, I had received extensive assistance from my project mentor, as he was always there whenever I was stuck somewhere. He was very patient throughout the course of the project, as I had a habit of losing nerves very easily. My project mentor was there even when I was finding it difficult to cope up with the work load and deliver. However, in the course of conducting this research study, I had realized that it was a difficult and messy job to conduct an applied research in the field of accounting; however, the dividends were very good in this regard, as I had learned quite a lot during the course of this research ...
