Countries that are risk in natural resources usually developing countries have also welcome private for the oil and gas extraction. As we know that oil and gas are the important and high value commodities for industrialization as well as for other sectors. Moreover, gas has a unique importance in country's economic growth and development as it contributes towards electricity generation. Since oil and gas have various uses and have direct connections with the wellbeing of economic and social, these commodities demand grows as rise in income and population in majority of the developing countries. In this paper, the Shwe Gas Project will be discussed highlighting Project main content.
Scale and Scope of the Project
As we know that Burma rich in resources and had been generating revenues from their oil and gas sectors. The Scale and scope of initiating Shwe Gas Project would be much beneficial for the county. Firstly, if this project is implemented, this would offer government up to US$ 29 billion for next 30 years. This would also establish the dictatorship. Beside this, it also offers facilities for planned production for further development that comprises of central processing platform along with an onshore gas terminal as well as offshore and onshore pipelines.
Furthermore, as majority of the people living in this country has not been provided with gas due to which they have to meet their daily requirements such as light, heat, and cooking fuel using candles and firewood. This factor would be eliminated if this project would be implemented. Moreover, the most important scope of this project would the economic stability as foreign investment will be pumped in the economy. Moreover, Facilities of Offshore Gas drilling that will extract gas from sea. Storage facilities for deep sea-port and oil on Maday Island which will allow huge ships to off-load oil from Middle East and Africa at oil terminals and it will also offer network for huge roads through the island to link several construction sites. Under-sea natural gas pipeline would transport natural gas to Kyauk Phyu on Ramree Island terminal. All this will benefit country's economy to be stable (SOLD OUT Launch of China pipeline project unleashes abuse across Burma, 2011, pp. N/A).
Systems for Project Success
In order to ensure the success of the project, Burma government has joint venture with different countries to explore gas and oil from different part of their regions. The entire state was decentralized and for the success of the project, the strategy adopted by government had no meaning, there was no law ensuring that people will be benefited or not. The government has strong stakeholders such as Daewoo International; ONGC Videsh etc were implementing effective strategies such as roadmap, easily transforming gas and oil to their home country etc. hence, military was above the government (Shwe Gas Will Be Piped to China for 30 Years Starting from 2012, 2009, pp. 3).
