Should Juvenile offenders be tried and convicted as adults in MA and be housed in adult prisons?

Thesis Statement

Juveniles should be held fully responsible for any crimes they commit because even though they are young, juveniles have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. Trying juveniles as adults would ensure a strict punishment, closure for the victims, and restoration of order and protection for society.

Introduction

Since the starting of time fairness agents have been faced with a tough conclusion should juvenile lawbreakers be granted lesser judgments because of their age? Today agents still are having problem with this situation. Some professionals accept as factual some lawbreaker should be endeavored as mature individuals, other ones accept as factual no juvenile lawbreakers should be endeavored as mature individuals and some even believe all should be endeavored as adults (Forst, Fagan, Vivona, 1). This paper discusses if Juvenile offenders should be tried and convicted as adults in MA and be housed in adult prisons or not.

 

Discussion

According to Mr. Steve Smith 40% of inmates in jail are juveniles and he furthermore states 150,000 prisoners are replicate lawbreakers who begun as juveniles. This means over 50,000 prisoners are juveniles and the other ones are mature individuals who in the age of 18-26 states and has increased 40% ver the last couple of years, and as asserted by the publication Juvenile Justice in 1996 2,171 killing situations were ascribed to minors(Sickmund, Snyder, Yamagata, 12). Juvenile lawbreakers are not only a risk to a village doing "small crimes" or misdemeanors but are committing more grave misdeeds as time proceeds by and yet still no efforts has been made to hold lawless individuals where they belong.
