This paper presents an essay on the significance of Shah Abbas I, a Safavid monarch, who ruled Iran from 1587 to 1629 A.D. Being an important figure, he was bound to win both critics and admirers. His most important contribution was the national unity among the Iranians that prevailed during his tenure.
