Coaching

The term coaching refers to the learning process in which an individual is coached by a professional tutor or coach. It is actually a training process which is carried out by implementing teaching skills in order to achieve and acquire professional or academic results. The person who is coached by the coach is known as mentee, trainee or student. The process of coaching can be carried out in an informal way in which knowledge, guidance, or a better advice is transferred from one individual to another individual.

There are many ways and methodologies of coaching and these methodologies are designed in order to make the process of coaching more attractive and effective to get desired results. There are a lot evident facts which can be very much helpful and supportive to elaborate the methods of coaching. It carries immense importance in every field of life because it gives learning, guidance and better understanding to deal different affairs (Stoltzfus, 2005).

How Coaching works

We consider coaching as a process in which through a series of stages. These stages do not always appear in the same order and are always devoted equal attention, however, we can say that are common to all processes of coaching:

Analysis of the situation in which there is the coach. In this phase, we identify the issue you want to work.  Identifying the goals the coach wants to achieve, what for him would be a desirable situation.

Understanding the reasons why the coach is not achieving the desired objectives, the desirable situation. We search and automatic beliefs that govern the actions of the customer and are acting as barriers or obstacles in achieving results.

Define and establish action plan commitments, so that the coach act differently, try new things and experience the consequences.

Track the action plan and evaluate the results of the actions that are being implemented as a way to consolidate new learning (Stoltzfus, 2005).

The role of the coach

Unlike other disciplines, the coach does not instruct, instructs, directs or advises. This is not a teacher, or a counselor, or a consultant. The coach is a facilitator, someone who supports and accompanies his partner in their thinking process. For this, the coach uses very deep levels of listening and observing them and helps the client to identify their beliefs; deeply held assumptions that often operate below the level of consciousness and that are the basis of our actions (Flaherty, 2011).
