Self Assessment of Creative Contributions

Abstract

This paper is a self assessment of my creative contributions to the final drama production. It details my initial expectations; how I set about the program by creating an aim and objectives that need to be accomplished in order to fulfil that aim. Examples of my objectives are; acquire the ability to identify adequate and proper camera techniques, understand how lighting and sound relate to the theme of the production, learn to use a DV camera and learn to use HDV cameras. Additionally I must learn to implement textual enhancements and how to effectively use digital diffusion and softening programs, understand how international contractual agreements and licenses are made, learn how these agreements and licenses are obtained and competently identify risk in the work environment.

The self assessment will go on to discuss in detail how I contributed to the final drama production. It will describe my role in editing, wiring, mixing, casting, setting up the camera, my research in mimicking real life wounds and distortions caused by mustard gas and much more. The conclusion will sum up the self assessment and present my views on how the production has aided my learning and where I stand with respect to my prior set out aims and objectives.

Introduction

Digital Film Production has always been a dream of mine. In addition to the glamour and the glitz, the artistic approach to film making has always attracted me. Camera angles, sound mixing, story narration and the way tactically placed lighting can change the mood of the viewer is simply fantastic. Early on, I decided on an aim and listed the objectives I must accomplish to fulfill my aim. This production has added greatly to my knowledge and has helped me on my path to fulfilling my aim.

Activities like these are the best learning experience. Firsthand experience is a vital tool. Implementing what you've heard people talk about, seeing the issues that can arise on set and using little tips and tricks puts everything into perspective. It is a great chance to learn from others, and share what the talent you have with everyone.

Initial Expectations

I have high expectations from my degree in Digital Film Production. Technology has advanced greatly. So much has changed in the field of film making. In the time I spend here, I wish to take full advantage of the knowledge of my superiors and peers to further advance mine. I aim to acquire an in depth knowledge of direction and post production.

To reach my aim, I set out distinct, categorized objectives. They include; acquire the ability to identify adequate and proper camera techniques, understand how lighting and sound relate the theme of the production and the proper method of casting performers.
