In order for every student to assess where he stands in the eyes of the prospective employers, it is imperative to perform an honest self assessment. Professional development essentially calls for it. This not only enables us to identify out strengths but also helps is in working on our weaknesses (Katt & Condly, p. 213). In addition, it is important for a student to be able to describe himself and sell himself.
Whenever a student applies for job, he has to sell himself at every stage of the recruitment process. This means drafting a quality resume, accompanying it with an out of the box personal statement and a self assessment paper. This paper presents an assessment of my interests, abilities, and values.

Interests
My primary interests include reading and travelling. Travelling and reading are my ruling passions, the very joys of my life and the very sunshine of my earthly existence. Books, as popularly suggested, are a man's best friend. Whenever I am in a company of people, there are always times when I feel I better be reading a book. Reading helps you discover yourself. It helps you give meaning to the world around you. The books I read are both entertaining and informational. In addition, I am an avid reader of newspapers. Being a business student, this is required and expected of me. I will not make a good professional if I am not updated with what goes around in the world (Ford, p. 301). In this age of cut throat competition, the thing that makes me stand apart is my presentation skills. I personally believe that because I know a little more than the others, I am always I always end up winning arguments.
Travelling is more like my passion. I enjoy it. This is also good for me ...
